Founded in 1952,
A vibrant community nestled around South Cocoanut Bayou on North Siesta Key
History
In the 1940s and 1950s, Elbridge S. Boyd, an Atlanta native, played a key role in the early development of Siesta Key. His contributions include notable projects like Hidden Harbor, the Sanderling Club, and the Cocoanut Bayou Association. Established in 1949, the Cocoanut Bayou Association (CBA) encompasses 54 eligible homes located on Cedar Park Circle, Higel Avenue, Midnight Pass Road, Mangrove Point Road, Mangrove Place, and Little Pond Lane. Boyd’s developments reflected his deep respect for ecology and aesthetics, highlighting the area’s natural beauty. At the heart of South Cocoanut Bayou lies a large mangrove island, which serves as a rich natural habitat.
Cocoanut Bayou Association, Inc.
(CBA) The Cocoanut Bayou Association, Inc., a Florida non-profit corporation, was founded in 1952 and later amended in 1990 to establish a voluntary, non-profit association. It consists of property owners within the Cocoanut Bayou properties, as defined by the corporate documents. Together, these members maintain the community’s character by adhering to certain restrictions and responsibilities that preserve the quiet and attractive atmosphere of the area.
